Manufacturing Engineer

Our three divisions, Engineering and Test, Technical Services, and Mission Systems make DTB a diverse and interesting place to work.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathe
  • Design and develop part tooling, jigs, and other holding fixtures
  • Interpret internal and customer-supplied engineering drawings and provide machining strategies that reduce time and cost while ensuring First Time Right manufacturing
  • Help manage active machine shop workload and schedule incoming jobs
  • Review material and process certs for conformance to purchase orders and engineering drawings
  • Route incoming material and assign it to active or incoming jobs
  • Create purchase requisitions for raw material, heat treatment, and other part finishing and inspection processes
  • Perform in-process and first-time part inspections
  • Support a quick turnaround or prototype line of parts
  • Develop manufacturing processes and flows to maximize manufacturing throughput
  • Develop work instructions for equipment
  • Provide technical support to other machine shop personnel
  • Review engineering drawings and support sales in estimating quotes

The ideal Candidate will need:


  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience with CNC programming and operation and other metal fabricating techniques.
  • Experience in computer-aided design and manufacturing CAD/CAM software. Preferred: Autodesk AutoCAD, Inventor, and Vault / Autodesk HSM and Fusion 360
  • Knowledge of machine shop safe practices
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices (experience in, preferred)
  • Experience in "one-off" parts and prototype production. Preferred: demonstrated ability to apply creative manufacturing techniques to produce first article parts in-tolerance
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on customer service
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and be willing to collaborate in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
  • Understanding of engineering drawings - symbols, dimensions, and tolerances
  • Preferred: experience using Monday.com
  • Preferred: experience in AS9100 quality standards
