Primary Purpose:

The Application Development Specialist (ADS) will provide technical sales service to the UNIVAR Midstream/Upstream commercial team for the purpose to assist closing business opportunities and grow sales by efficient technical support to customers. Promote distinctive Univar wide and global technology and product offering versus our competitors by using collaborative and consultative approach to adapt and implement technical solutions to resolve customer's issues.

The key responsibility is to assist our customers in formulating their fluid systems using Univar product line, and provide the commercial team with means and solutions to position our products beyond price play. The ADS role requires a good technical background, combined with a good sense of technical and commercial selling that would help build long-term relations and partnership with customers by using industry expertise. The ultimate target is to build a profitable business through understanding the customer and market needs and provide technical and consultative solutions by optimizing and developing new product technologies and strategies

What You'll Do:

  • Identify and develop new products by partnering with the ADS team and through monitoring industry changes to meet customer needs
  • Provide input to technical and commercial teams on technical aspects and market intelligence using current market industry trends
  • Facilitate the compilation of highly technical NDA's and MSA's
  • Coordinate all aspects for new Univar product launches
  • Assist in qualification of potential new suppliers, new raw materials and other duties as requested in support of Univar business

What You'll Need:

  • Chemistry, chemical or petroleum engineering degree (BS or higher) preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • 5 - 10 years industry experience
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
  • Experience in midstream and downstream Industry
  • Good understanding of products chemistry/performance relationship is a plus
  • Highly adaptable, self-motivated with a desire for continuous learning and improvement
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and initiative

Where You'll Work:

This is a hybrid role. Office location: Waxahachie, TX. Preference for candidates located in the Dallas, TX area.
